About Fenix®

High performance materials for interior design.

FENIX, the next generation of smart materials created by Arpa Industriale in 2013. For a range of horizontal and vertical interior applications, including kitchens, hospitality, healthcare, transportation, bathrooms and furniture. FENIX is not only beautiful to look at, it is also a high-tech material made unique by its characteristics including – soft to touch, anti-fingerprint, hygienic, durable, waterproof, and thermal healing of superficial micro-scratches is also possible.

FENIX is created by undergoing a series of processes including multi-layer coating, use of nanoparticles and acrylic resins that are hardened and cured using an innovative Electron Beam Curing process. As a result of these processes, FENIX is highly matt. Its high-performance surface allows for dust and water to slide off, making FENIX hygienic, mould resistant, and waterproof.

Although FENIX is heat-resistant, heat can be used to repair the surface should superficial micro-scratches occur, restoring the surface to its original appearance.

CHARACTERISTICS

SOFT TOUCH
The nanotech make up of FENIX gives the material a unique feel that is warm or soft to touch.

LOW LIGHT REFLECTIVITY, EXTREMELY MATT SURFACE
Invisible troughs and peaks within FENIX work to ensure low light reflectivity which in turn creates a matt surface.

Anti-Fingerprint

ANTI-FINGERPRINT
Touching the surface will not leave behind fingerprints due to the innovative make up of the material.

THERMAL HEALING OF SUPERFICIAL MICRO-SCRATCHES
A ‘Magic sponge’ can be used on the surface to create friction and therefore heal superficial micro-scratches, many times over – as long as the scratch is not deep enough to penetrate the structure of the material.

Fenix NTM Bloom Colours

SHEET OPTIONS

0.7mm FENIX NTM Bloom sheets are available in two sizes: 3050x1300mm and 4200x1300mm.
Please note: FENIX NTM is directional. Grain direction is indicated by the arrows on the protective film. 

PRESSED PANELS MADE WITH FENIX NTM BLOOM

All New Zealand stocked FENIX ranges and colours can be supplied as a ‘pressed panel’ for vertical and horizontal applications.

EDGING OPTIONS

Colour matched ABS edging is available in Laser or Standard PU ABS. All edging is available in 23mm and 43mm widths x 1mm thickness.

PRESSED PANELS made with FENIX

MDF

FENIX can be pressed on either 18mm MDF (Moisture-Resistant E0), 25mm or 30mm MDF (E0) resulting in an almost 20mm, 27mm or 32mm finished panel thickness. The sheet size is 3.045m x 1.220m.

BIRCH PLYWOOD

FENIX can be pressed on either 18mm or 24mm birch plywood resulting in an almost 20mm or 26mm finished panel thickness. The sheet size is 2.435m x 1.215m.

FENIX Pressed Panels are available in two options*:

  • Face Two Sides (F2S) is where FENIX is pressed onto both faces (or sides) of the substrate for a more premium option.
  • One Face One Back (1F1B) is where FENIX is pressed onto one face (or side) of the substrate, with a similarly coloured ARPA HPL (high-pressure laminate) pressed onto the back face, providing a lower cost option. (FENIX NTM Bloom is currently available in F2S only)

PANEL EDGING OPTIONS

  • Colour-matched Laser ABS edging*, and Standard ABS PU edging are available for the FENIX NTM and FENIX NTM Bloom ranges. The FENIX NTA range is only available in a Standard PU ABS edging only (not laser).
  • Laser ABS edging is available* in colour-matched 23mm and 43mm widths x 1mm thickness
  • Standard ABS PU edging unglued available in colour-matched 23mm and 43mm widths x 1mm thickness
  • FENIX Colour Core edging* in 1.2mm thickness

DARK COLOUR DESIGN CONSIDERATION

Putting dark colour benchtops and cabinetry panels into direct sunlight applications can affect the substrate performance in terms of product movement.
